Job Summary

We are looking for an Account Director to join our strong client services department. Working as part of a client-focused team, you will have overall financial and strategic responsibility for the account and the management of all team members to ensure effective delivery. You will ensure that all projects meet client strategic imperatives, ensuring high-level client satisfaction and organic growth opportunities. Excellent communication skills are essential and you must be well organised, great at planning, be flexible and solution orientated.

  • Takes overall responsibility of designated accounts, ensuring proactive process and client management
  • Works with all members of the team to ensure they take responsibility for exceptional delivery
  • Ensures that all members of the team follow internal and external processes so that that all projects are of the highest quality
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of budgets and schedules
  • Proactively monitors growth and loss within assigned accounts
  • Has a clear and immediate knowledge of financial situation of all assigned accounts
  • Liaises closely with clients to monitor satisfaction and proactively gain feedback to ensure steady growth and longevity of accounts
  • Leads/directs all client interactions while mentoring others to take increasing responsibility
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining relationships with key client contacts to ensure long-term account health and development
  • Line manages and mentors more junior team members according to the Obsidian Performance Management process
  • Works with other line managers to ensure consistent application of the Performance Management process
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of medical communications
  • Able to convincingly discuss the full breadth of medical communications activities
  • Has strategic oversight of product lifecycle and required communications initiatives
  • Through comprehensive knowledge, drives awareness and understanding of relevant compliance guidelines, both general and client-specific, and takes responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered accordingly
  • Develops proposals and pitches, adding strategic value to expand the business
  • Identifies and delivers growth opportunities with existing clients and potential new clients
  • Works with senior Obsidian personnel to expand established accounts
  • Shares intelligence that could impact on the development of the Group
  • Works with senior personnel to appropriately manage long-term account resourcing across the Group and address any concerns

Experience and Education Required:

  • Solid proven and recent experience in a similar role in the medical education/communications industry
  • Preferably PhD, but science degree and significant interest in the area as an alternative
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – in particular Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
